Jos aniz Geetar is a singer-songwriter who finds his musical home in the shadow of Rotterdam. His inspiration is a melting pot of sounds and styles—from the raw energy of rock and the subdued warmth of folk to classical influences and avant-garde experiments. Eclectic is perhaps the word that best describes his music.
With his latest album, The Salt Lake Connection, recorded in the rugged landscape of Salt Lake City under the masterful production of Terence Hansen, Jos aniz Geetar unfolds the versatility of his musical palette. The songs on the album carry a common thread: a humanistic view of the world, and the question of how we can move forward together on this planet.
In early October, he heads to the rugged shores of Scotland to work on his new project, WATER. In an old manor house in Ardnamurchan, he will collaborate with Katie Spencer and sixteen other singer-songwriters to write new songs—songs that carry the echo of the sea and the breath of the landscape within them.

What others are saying.
“In the fifty years I’ve known him, he has developed a way of playing guitar and writing songs that stands out through his uniquely personal use of both rhythm and imagery. Combined with his deep, dark voice, it results in songs that, while rooted in Scottish/Irish folk and American blues, are utterly inimitable, yet instantly recognizable as unmistakably Jos van Oost.
Authentic, profound, captivating, and un-Dutchly great!”

– Katie Spencer

“A deep, rich vocal that hits like a smoky glass of scotch, paired with masterfully fingerpicked guitar – a perfect blend served over excellently crafted songs.”
– Liz Owen
