Jos aniz Geetar is a singer-songwriter who finds his musical home in the shadow of Rotterdam. His inspiration is a melting pot of sounds and styles—from the raw energy of rock and the subdued warmth of folk to classical influences and avant-garde experiments. Eclectic is perhaps the word that best describes his music. With his latest album, The Salt Lake Connection, recorded in the rugged landscape of Salt Lake City under the masterful production of Terence Hansen, Jos aniz Geetar unfolds the versatility of his musical palette. The songs on the album carry a common thread: a humanistic view of the world, and the question of how we can move forward together on this planet. In early October, he heads to the rugged shores of Scotland to work on his new project, WATER. In an old manor house in Ardnamurchan, he will collaborate with Katie Spencer and sixteen other singer-songwriters to write new songs—songs that carry the echo of the sea and the breath of the landscape within them.

JOS has traveled 150,000 km through 47 states of the USA over the past few years in a 25-year-old campervan aptly named The GetAway Van.

He has been a globetrotter his whole life and decided to drive across the USA for six months, fulfilling an old childhood dream. Fascinated by the music, the cities, nature, and the people, he has returned often since then.

During his travels, he wrote more than 20 songs—road songs, songs about encounters with guitarists, guitar builders, and unique individuals who were so different and original that they had to leave an impression. These encounters, wherever they occurred in the world, are a recurring theme. The similarities between people everywhere in the world are much greater than the differences, but the worlds they live in are so different, which makes it beautiful.

He performed frequently during these travels, including in theaters where great inspirations like Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, and John Martyn had also played.

During one of those performances, he met TERENCE HANSEN, and a connection immediately formed between kindred spirits. This resulted in many performances over the past few years on both sides of the Atlantic, from Berlin to Salt Lake City and from San Francisco to Paris.

Last year, the songs were released on 2 CDs, making full use of the internet to exchange recordings. A truly transatlantic project. Produced by Richard Heijerman, who not only played all the drums but also the piano, vibraphone, marimba, and organ. Kees van Proosdij played bass, Sjoerd Beunder played cello and bass, and of course, Terence Hansen played impossible guitars with virtuoso arrangements.
